Record Washington Midget Racing Association StateLine Speedway, Post Falls, Idaho, August 3, 2002, by John Hunter Rick Moss took the lead on lap twenty-five from Brad Curtis in capturing the thirty-five lap WMRA feature at StateLine Speedway. The victory put him in a tie with Ken Peterson on the all-time WMRA win list with seventy-four feature victories. Moss, driving the Kenworthy Motorsports, Sandblasters Inc., Snap On, Beast-Gaerte, took the lead on lap twenty-five from Brad Curtis driving the Joan Curtis, Sage Induction, Promaxx Performance, Beast-Gaerte as they exited turn four. A lap thirty red to clean up oil on the track only delayed the victory celebration as Moss took the checkered eight car lengths ahead of Curtis. Darren Linder in the family owned, Don Wilson Photos, TCR-Fontana finished third. With the invert set at eight, Rob Lindsey and Ken Ferris paced the field for the start with Ferris taking the advantage as they entered the first turn. Rick Kraft followed Ferris to take second exiting turn two with Curtis right behind. As the pack exited turn four on the first lap, Curtis was able to get under Kraft and take second with Kraft, Steve Spoor and Moss rounding out the top five. Ferris was running the middle groove and Curtis a little lower as the pair slowly pulled away from Kraft who was having a side by side race with Moss for third. On lap five, Moss was able to get under Kraft entering turn three and took the spot exiting turn four. The running order after five laps was Ferris, Curtis Moss, Kraft and Steve Spoor. Meanwhile up front, Ferris and Curtis were staging a great duel with Curtis getting under Ferris entering the turns but Ferris maintaining the lead on exit. As the pair entered turn three on lap nine, Ferris slipped a little high allowing Curtis to take the advantage as they exited turn four. By now, Moss had reeled in the leaders as the trio raced nose to tail. On lap fifteen, Linder was able to take fifth from Spoor while Duane Westby exited due to low oil pressure. On lap sixteen, Moss and Ferris were racing side by side with neither giving an inch. Finally on lap eighteen, Moss was able to take second. The following lap, Kraft and Tony Villelli made contact entering turn three bringing out the caution. Neither car was able to restart as Villelli had a bent header and Kraft broke a shock and had a flat right rear. The running order for the restart was Curtis, Moss, Ferris, Linder and Spoor. As the race restarted, Curtis, Moss and Ferris pulled away from the field. Moss was on a mission as he tried both high and low to take the lead from Curtis. His determination paid off on lap twenty-five as he forged ahead. Ferris was giving Curtis all he could handle and on lap twenty-nine took second exiting turn two. One lap later, Ferris lost an oil filter causing him to spin in his own oil in turn one. The race was red flagged to clean the track. The restart running order was Moss, Curtis, Linder, Spoor and Nick Seidelman. For the final five laps, the race for fifth was the best race on the slick track with N. Seidelman edging Bobby Bird by inches. Moss took the checkered with an eight car length advantage with Curtis another six car lengths ahead of Linder. Moss set fast time for the second time this season with a clocking of 13.422. Bird held off Ferris and Tony Seidelman in capturing the B Dash while Linder edged Spoor in the A Dash.
